Blockbuster Trade time

The Jays traded for Latroy Hawkins and Troy Tulowitzki from the Rockies, giving up their current shortstop Jose Reyes as well as 2014’s 9th overall pick Jeff Hoffman, Jeses Tino and Miguel Castro. In Hawkins the Jays acquire a veteran presence in the bullpen who has been pitching well this year and has been around and can help the young bullpen grow. In Tulo the Jays acquire the best shortstop in game offensively as well as being a very strong defender.

Jays take 2 of 3 from the A’s

The Jays won the opener and the closer of the series as well as dropping an extra innings game in the middle, the Jays are now 49-48.

The Jays are off to Seattle to take on king Felix and the Mariners.

Jays lose error filled game

The Jays lost 11-10 to the Royals. The teams combined for 27 hits and 7 errors.  The Jays starter Felix Dubront gave up 6 runs in the first but then settled down ending his day with 5 innings pitched with 7 runs overall however only 5 earned runs. Steve Delabar then came in and only recorded one out he was charged with 3 runs 2 earned. Aaron Loup and Brett Cecil the pitched each allowing 0 runs. Bo Schultz then pitched the bottom of the 8th giving up the game winning homerun.

On the offensive side of the ball the Jays lineup had 4 doubles and one triple overall.  Jose Reyes commited 2 errors in the field but also went 3-5 with a double and one Rbi. Devon Travis went 2-5 with 2 strikeouts. Kevin Pillar went 2-4 with 2 runs scored, a triple and one Rbi.

In the 8th inning Jose Bautista argued a 1 and 2 strike call by the homeplate umpire Jerry Meals. The score was 10-10, Jose Reyes was on first, Justin Smoak came to pinch hit and recorded an out.  In that situation in my opinion no matter if your a rookie or a veteran player you need to step back in the box and just hit.

That’s it for games before the all-star break the Jays are 45-46, 4.5 games back in the Al East.  Have a great All-star break everyone.

Jays End Shutout streak and Allstar Game Updates

The Jays won 6-2, Mark Buehrle won his 10th game for the season, while lowering his Era too 3.34 for the season. Jose Reyes went 3-4 with a double in the 3 run 9th inning. Jose Reyes also had a big game on the base paths stealing 3 bases today, he know has 14 this season. Edwin Encarnacion  and Danny Valencia both hit homers.  Bo Scultz and Roberto Osuna both pitched perfect innings with one strikeout a piece.   The Jays were still 2-10 with runners in scoring position today. The Jays play one more game before the all-star game against the Royals tomorrow.

All-star game update time:

Jose Bautista has decided not to participate in the all-star game to rest a sore shoulder. Bautista has stated through the Jays officials that he will talk to the media about his decision before the start of the game tomorrow.
